Biography

Hello! My name is Jennifer Parks and the classroom is my happy place! You’ll find me in 4th grade where we are growing every day!! I love the learning journeys I get to be a part of as a teacher!

I have been teaching at Advantage Arts Academy since the first year and I love it here because I strongly believe in the benefits of the arts integration model that is used in all subject areas! Visual arts and music have been a particularly significant part of my life over the years and we use those elements often in my class.
I grew up in the San Diego, California area. I love the beach and the mild climate, but I feel at home here in Utah. It’s nice having seasons that change—I especially love the fall.

I earned my bachelor’s degree at Utah Valley State University and my master’s degree at Western Governors University. I began woking as an educator in California where I taught at charter schools. I also worked as a tutor. I spent my summers and breaks creating and running art camps, cooking camps, and paint nights for kids of all ages. Nowadays, in my spare time, I can often be found painting, reading, playing board games, and spending time with my family (including my two perfect sons and my two quirky cats).
