Biography

My name is Cindy Jahnsen and I am a 1st grade teacher here at Advantage Arts Academy. I grew up in sunny southern CA and am an avid Disney fan and beach lover. My husband, four children and I moved to Utah 8 years ago and we love its variety and beauty. 

I have a Master of Arts in Teaching, Elementary Education K-8, from Western Governors University. Performing, creating and teaching is my happy place. Over the last 15 years, I have taught a combination of general music, choir, dance, piano, musical theater and general education. 

I come from a family of performers, artists and teachers and have been involved in the arts and education in many forms for as long as I can remember. I am a huge advocate for the arts and strongly believe in the Beverly Taylor Sorenson (BTS) program within our school. I love teaching through music, theater, dance and visual art. I know that art integration increases student engagement and retention, making learning fun and interesting!
