About Our School

About Us

There are several major differences between AAA and traditional schools. First and foremost is that Advantage Arts Academy is the only school in Utah that will align with the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program (BTSALP) model as a focus and not as a supplemental add-on program. We exceed the Utah Core Standards by integrating arts into the curriculum to support the educational goals and academic success of our students. Visit our Arts Integration page to learn more.

Second, AAA is a public charter school that can accept any Utah elementary student, regardless of where the student resides. Our location in Herriman makes us easily accessible to the surrounding communities.

Charter schools are independently run schools created with the intention to improve public education, demonstrate a record of student achievement, and have specific educational missions and focuses. Charter schools are publicly funded, tuition-free, and are NOT private schools. Charter schools are authorized to operate as public schools by the Utah State Office of Education and are open to all students. Similar to other public schools, charter schools may serve students from Kindergarten through to 12th grade.

The Charter Application establishes a specific program for each charter school with the Utah State Board of Education.

Charter schools allow educators freedom to try new strategies to inspire students and to experiment with innovative ways of educating students, such as by integrating the four art disciplines.

No. Charter schools are public schools and may not charge tuition or require students or parents to make monetary contributions (although donations are accepted and appreciated). Charter schools are subject to the same rules regarding school fees as other traditional district public schools.

Yes. Charter schools are public schools and have the same requirements as all Utah public schools in regards to student assessments.

Operations

AAA will operate on a standard nine-month calendar.

AAA enrollment is open to all Utah students, consequently, transportation is not provided by the school or the local school district. With the exception of some field trips, parents are responsible for the transportation of their children to and from the school and are encouraged to participate in carpools.

Yes! Advantage Arts Academy will have a special education team employed to address the needs of students who qualify for special education services.
